THE CONTINUING EDUCATION AND BUSINESS SERVICES OF CÉGEP DE ST-FÉLICIEN is looking to hire a teacher for the Attestation of Collegial Studies (ACS) “Special Needs Education – Aboriginal and Inuit Children – JNC.12”.

FALL 2024
From September 30 to December 20, 2024, with a possibility of prolongation for the entire duration of the program.
Lodging and travel are provided.
A week of training will be required.
The program is given entirely in English.

JNC.12-A24-01
Course: 351-716-FE
Title: Assessment of the child’s needs and his/her environment
Delivery modes: 1. Intensive group training, lasting one week at the beginning of the semester (40 hours). The training hours will be provided by the instructor in Kuujjuarapik;
2. In-person training in communities. The instructor must be available to travel between communities and stay there for one week at a time (35 hours per week for approximately 7 communities);
3. Part of the course is offered asynchronously and individually (45 hours).
Requirements: Hold a bachelor’s degree in preschool and primary education, psychoeducation, social work, psychology, or any other combination of relevant education and experience;
Possess complete professional ability in English, as the training will be conducted exclusively in English (native English speaker or bilingual in French and English).

Course: 351-705-FE
Title: Learning differences and delays in children
Delivery modes: 2. In-person training in communities. The instructor must be available to travel between communities and stay there for one week at a time (35 hours per week for approximately 7 communities);
3. Part of the course is offered asynchronously and individually (45 hours).
Requirements: Hold a bachelor’s degree in preschool and primary education, psychoeducation, social work, psychology, or any other combination of relevant education and experience;
Possess complete professional ability in English, as the training will be conducted exclusively in English (native English speaker or bilingual in French and English).

Exigences

Specific requirements:

  • Have significant professional experience in special needs education in the field of prevention, early intervention or/and with a clientele with special needs;
  • Have relevant experience in First Nations or Inuit communities;
  • Have great autonomy and excellent adaptability;
  • Demonstrate great cultural sensitivity;
  • Have a good knowledge and openness to working with information and communication technologies (ICT) and in applying dynamic online teaching strategies using digital tools, particularly in the use and operation of the digital learning environment Teams;
  • Be able to teach dynamically according to competency-based, experiential, reflective, and culturally safe approaches;
  • Being able to express oneself in Inuktitut will be considered an asset.
